NCBI Description of XKRX

This gene encodes a protein that is related to a component of the XK/Kell complex of the Kell blood group system. The encoded protein includes several transmembrane domains, is known to be exposed to the cell surface, and may function as a membrane transporter. Sequence Note: An in-frame AUG is located 13 codons upstream of the annotated translation start site but was not annotated as a start site since it is poorly conserved and is in a weak Kozak sequence context. In addition, a 6 amino acid overlapping uORF would prevent its use.

Figure notes

• "Mouse over" a mutation to see details.
• Missense green saturation indicates evolutionary conservation of the mutated positions.
• Red hashes in protein strip are splice sites.
• Blue-white-red bars are log2 copy ratio distributions (–1 to +1) from Zack et al. (2013).
